Dr Amel Makhlouf is an attorney-at-law, qualified to practice in Paris, with in-depth experience in international business law. She advises, assists and represents clients (including individuals, corporations, small and medium-sized entreprises) in international arbitration, cross-border disputes, international law and commercial matters, banking and finance, Islamic finance and law of the Arab Middle East.

Through her professional and academic career, Dr Amel Makhlouf gained expertise in France, England, Luxembourg and the United States of America. Before founding her own firm in 2020, Dr Amel Makhlouf was an associate at a boutique law firm in Paris specialising in international dispute resolution and banking and finance. She was also a legal counsel at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in London with whom she continues to collaborate closely as an active member.

Combining academic positions in both Paris and London, Dr Amel Makhlouf is also a lecturer at Sorbonne Law School (Paris) and at the iReMMO (Paris), a research associate at SOAS, University of London and the Managing Editor (Country Surveys) of Brill’s Yearbook of Islamic and Middle Eastern Law (YIMEL).
