International Arbitration


Dr. Amel Makhlouf is listed as an arbitrator with several renowned arbitral institutions, such as CRCICA, DIAC, KIAC, AIAC, OIC-AC, MARC, CAIP, RAC, CMCAO, and Delos. She is involved in both domestic and international arbitration proceedings, as an arbitrator and co-counsel, and has served for many years early in her career as a tribunal secretary.

Her experience covers a wide variety of applicable laws, such as those of France, Algeria, England and Wales, Russia, Morocco, Iran, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Switzerland and China (Hong Kong).

Dr. Amel Makhlouf has participated in institutional arbitration proceedings (CCI, DIAC, HKIAC, BCDR-AAA, CAIP, etc.) based in Paris, Hong Kong, London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Manama, and Tehran, as well as in ad hoc proceedings, notably governed by the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. Her areas of practice include international commercial disputes, corporate law, construction, banking and finance, Islamic finance, telecommunications, and new technologies.

Dr. Amel Makhlouf teaches international arbitration at the Paris Bar School and at Toulouse Capitole University. She is also a member of the Management Committee of the SOAS Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Centre (SADRC), of the Advisory Committee of the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), and of the Arbitration Fund for African Students (AFAS).

At SOAS University of London, she is currently leading a research project exploring the use of arbitration in FinTech, specifically targeting African and Gulf markets.
