International arbitration

Dr Amel Makhlouf is an empanelled arbitrator with:

  • The Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC); 

  • The Mediation and Arbitration Center - Mauritius (MARC);

  • The Asian International Arbitration Centre - Malaysia (AIAC);

  • The Energy Disputes Arbitration Center (EDAC);

  • The eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre (eBRAM);

  • The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Center (OIC-AC);

  • The Egyptian Center for Arbitration and Settlement of Non-Banking Financial Disputes (ECAS);

  • The Chambre de Médiation, de Conciliation et d'Arbitrage d'Occitanie - France (CMCAO).

She also acts as co-counsel and tribunal secretary in numerous international ad hoc and institutional arbitrations across a wide range of sectors, including large-scale construction projects, real estate, banking and finance, Islamic finance and corporate.

She has acted as counsel and has been appointed as tribunal secretary in arbitral proceedings based in Paris, Hong Kong, London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Manama and Tehran conducted under the auspices of the ICC, HKIAC, DIAC, BCDR-AAA, as well as ad-hoc proceedings under the UNCITRAL arbitration rules.

Dr Amel Makhlouf has experience of international arbitrations governed by the laws of France, England and Wales, Russia, Algeria, Morocco, Malaysia, Iran, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong.

She currently teaches international arbitration at the Paris Bar School (EFB) and at the Toulouse Capitole University (UTC). She also serves on the Management Committee of the SOAS Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Centre (SADRC) and on the Advisory Committee of the CRCICA.

Domestic & cross-border consumer mediation

Her diverse expertise encompasses mediating contractual disputes involving consumers and traders in various retail sectors including real estate, banking and finance, insurance, telecommunications and e-commerce.

She is a member of the Association des Médiateurs Européens – AME Conso and has been appointed in more than 350 domestic and cross-border disputes between consumers and traders.
